The Team

I live in Cambridge with my wife and son. Besides my passion for travelling, often to Austria, my ancestral home, I can often be found rooting for my favourite football team, Cambridge United, at the Abbey Stadium. I also thoroughly enjoy creative moments in the kitchen and take great pleasure in exploring the many wonderful things Cambridge has to offer.

I am from Brazil and moved to the UK because of the weather (yes, really) and the food (no, seriously).

I joined First Edition in 2004 and since 2023 I am the team’s Overlord (actual title: Director / General Manager )

I am passionate about Netflix, reading, writing, travelling, cooking vegan food, and being there for my team and our clients.

After completing a BA in English Studies and a MA in Conference Interpreting in Bulgaria, I relocated to the UK where I joined our parent company Cintra in 2012, initially working on translation projects for the criminal justice sector.

Currently, I work mainly with pharmaceutical and life sciences clients, assisting them with complex pharmacovigilance and compliance translation projects and linguistic validation.

I have always been fascinated by languages and linguistics (even after 15 years in the industry!), and I am also interested in psychology, medicine and biology.

In my free time I used to enjoy travel, reading, films, music, food and a good glass of wine or ale. Currently, as a parent to two very young children, I have no spare time and instead enjoy rediscovering the world through their eyes and learning about child development and psychology and strategies for raising bilinguals.

When I finished my MA in English, German and Art History in 2003 at the University of Osnabrück/Germany, all I wanted to do was move to England.

My path led me to First Edition in 2008, where I have since been looking after a vast number of multifaceted projects in the Editorial Department. I work on publications for the arts and heritage sector, children’s fiction and non-fiction books, cookery titles and many other interesting projects.

Apart from language and literature, my main passion is music. I enjoy listening (and dancing) to a range of different genres, as well as playing the guitar and going to concerts.

I also love films, British comedy, boardgames, guinea pigs, Yoga and other forms of exercise.

I live in Letchworth Garden City with my husband and two daughters, and I enjoy travelling to Germany about three times a year to keep in touch with my family and friends.

I joined First Edition Translations in May 2023 to bolster the efforts of both the commercial and editorial teams.

I hold dual Master’s degrees; one in British Literature and Culture, and another in Applied Linguistics. My journey into localization commenced during a student placement and has since seen me contribute to numerous language solution providers, accruing invaluable experience across both public and private sectors.

Outside of work, I’m an avid photographer and photo editor. I find solace in playing classical guitar and delving into literature on psychology and neuroscience. Each morning, I dedicate time to meditation and yoga, fostering a centered mindset for the day ahead. Additionally, I ardently support my sons’ football teams, witnessing their growth with unwavering passion.
