It’s going to be a most exciting first for First Edition Translations as we head to the 2024 Frankfurt Book Fair – to date we’ve only attended as visitors, but this year we’ve got our very own stand, and we can’t wait to welcome people to visit us!
Amidst the excitement of exhibiting, however, we realised that in order to stand out (no pun intended!) we had to develop some unique, eye-catching way to ensure we’re seen by passers-by.
Whilst colour is always a great visual mechanism to attract visitors, the Frankfurt Book Fair is always awash with beautiful, bright and colourful stands – wonderful to look at, but hard to compete against!
So, to ensure that we not only have something unique to attract visitors, but simultaneously develop a ‘flyer’ for visitors to take away with them, we have developed our very own fold-up, A2 artwork poster celebrating some of the fluid, beautiful shapes of various languages, whilst also showcasing our translation capabilities.
Working with designer Ian Henderson from flourishh – a bespoke design agency based in Peterborough – we conceptualised our A2 poster’s ‘language artwork’ using six languages and Noto Google, which offers a free-to-use modular, flexible typographic system for designers, writers, publishers, advertisers, software makers, students, and scholars everywhere.
The languages we chose include Warang Citi, Tangsa, Tamil, n’Ko, Armenian and Sinhala – a lovely mix, with font families depicting beautiful flowing lines.
Our flyer, which can be taken away by visitors and folded out to its full A2 size, can then be framed as an artwork and a reminder of our translation services.
We’re also printing roller banners depicting the art, all of which we believe combines to make a highly visually attractive stand that should catch the eye of all Book Fair visitors.
Come and find us at Halle 6.1/B123 at the Frankfurt Book Fair, which opens on 16 October and ends on 20 October.
