Meet the Translator – Kerryann

Sep 17, 2019 | First Edition Translations, Language, Meet the Translator, Miscellaneous, Musings, Translation

Last week in our very first “Meet the Translator” blog post we introduced Adriana to you who works with Spanish and has been in our trusted translator team for nearly 30 years.

In today’s “Meet the Translator” post, we would like you to meet Kerryann, who has been collaborating with our Commercial Team for more than 8 years. We love working with her because she has a keen eye for detail and she is great with formatting which is invaluable when dealing with complicated layouts.

  1. What languages do you work with?

I translate from French, Spanish and Portuguese into UK English.

  1. How long have you worked as a professional translator?

Since February 2011, so nearly 8 and a half years.

  1. How did you become a translator?

I’ve always loved languages; they were always my best subjects at school. I studied languages during my undergraduate degree at university, then did a Master’s degree in Applied Translation Studies.

  1. How long have you been working with First Edition?

It’s been 8 years!

  1. What are your areas of expertise?

I work with certificates, market research/surveys (verbatims), marketing/press releases, travel and tourism, online retail, sport.

  1. What’s the best thing about being a translator?

Learning new things every day from carrying out research for projects might be one of the best aspects. Then there is job satisfaction when you finally come up with a solution to a tricky sentence you’ve been thinking about for ages, and the flexibility to take on work as and when.

  1. What is your favourite First Edition project to date?

There was a survey where company employees were asked to give feedback about their managers. It felt more personal and less formal than the certificates and legal documents that I usually translate for First Edition.

We hope you liked Kerryann’s introduction. Is there anything else you’d like to know about her and our collaboration? Do you perhaps have a document for Kerryann to translate? Get in touch today by sending an email to or by calling 01223 356 733!
