Walking with the birdsHere’s a lovely story for the end of a busy week.

The Frederick News-Post reports that 74 year old Bob Walker, from Maryland, USA, has begun a 400 mile walk from San Francisco to Los Angeles. He plans to spend May walking to raise awareness of sign language and the deaf community. His journey follows an online petition asking the White House to recognize sign language as a community language.

Communication comes in many different guises and sign language is surely just as important as any other language. I wish Mr Walker well on his quest.
