What makes a good translation?

Oct 15, 2012 | First Edition Translations, Translation

A good translation is one that succeeds in getting the original message across, fully and accurately, despite the linguistic and cultural barriers that may stand between the writer and the intended reader.

“Translation is that which transforms everything
so that nothing changes.”

Only a translator who has firsthand knowledge and experience of both the target and the source culture, as well as in-depth knowledge of the subject area, is able to do this. Which is why our translators only ever translate into their mother-tongue and are selected for a job based on their linguistic skills and cultural background, experience, expertise and specialist knowledge.

With over 2000 accredited translators on our database, and access to many more, you can be assured that we will find the right translator for your project.
