Bringing Royal Portraits to a Global Audience
In partnership with the Royal Collection Trust, First Edition Translations helped to draw in the crowds to the Royal Portraits: A Century of Photography exhibition at Buckingham Palace.
By translating exhibition materials into eight languages, we played our part in ensuring this historic showcase could be experienced and appreciated by visitors from around the world.
Cultural Nuances and Sensitivity
Culture shapes how art and heritage are experienced, and our translators and editors navigate this intricate tapestry with sensitivity and acumen. They are well versed in the customs, traditions, idiomatic expressions, and societal norms of both the source and target languages, ensuring that translations are culturally relevant and respectful. This cultural sensitivity extends to handling contentious or taboo topics with discretion and empathy. At the same time, our expert translators uphold fidelity to the original text, capturing the nuances of tone, rhythm and imagery.
Such meticulous attention to detail ensures that translated works maintain their ability to teach, convey meaning and guide understanding – be that for museum labels, art criticism or historical narratives.
