Welcome to the First Edition Translations blog which we hope will inform and interest you.
As this is our first blog entry, I would like to take the opportunity to introduce the team.

Daniela Fava, General Manager
Daniela is currently on maternity leave and enjoying spending time with her own 'first edition' son Ben. Of Italian origin, Daniela speaks English, Italian and Spanish. She graduated from Anglia Ruskin University with a BA in Italian and Spanish and started work at FE in 2001. We hope to have her back on our team soon.
Melanie Greve, Head of Editorial Department
After finishing her Masters Degree in English, German and Art History at the University of Osnabrück in 2003, Melanie came to the UK and has been with FE since 2008. Apart from a great variety of music, Melanie enjoys Spanish art, German literature, French wine and Japanese sushi. She speaks German, English and Spanish.
Ana Grilo, Commercial Translations Manager
Ana moved to England in 2004 from her native Brazil and speaks Portuguese, English and Spanish. She began working at FE soon after her arrival in the country and now specialises in medical and pharmaceutical projects. She has a BA in History and a passion for books. In her free time she runs a very successful book reviewing blog called The Book Smugglers.
Erika Mlalazi, Commercial Project Coordinator
After graduating with a BA in Public Administration, Erika moved from Lithuania to the UK in search of adventure. The UK didn't disappoint; she is a now a Project Coordinator in the Commercial Department at FE, has a baby daughter Siyanda, and has recently completed her AAT course in accounting. Erika speaks Lithuanian, English and Russian.
Bridget Tring, Marketing Co-ordinator
Bridget joined the team at the end of last year. Her marketing career has spanned nearly 20 years across both the public and private sectors. She has a great love of language and literature, and has recently taken a couple of Creative Writing courses with the Open University. She is married with two daughters.
Karin Tucker , Financial Controller
German, English, Spanish
Karin joined the team at FE in 2000 as the General Manager. After taking a part-time accountancy course she became the company's Financial Controller in 2006. Now working three days a week, Karin has more time to enjoy her many hobbies including horse riding, flamenco dancing and improving her Spanish.
Annabel van Nieuwkerk, Office Manager
Annabel graduated from the University of East Anglia in 2008 with a degree in Law with French Law and Language and started work in the Editorial Department at FE soon afterwards. Annabel married her Dutch fiancé in July and has recently started an MA in Applied Linguistics. She speaks English, French, Italian and Dutch.
Sheila Waller, Director
Sheila has an MA in French and Spanish from St Andrews University and speaks English, French, German and Spanish. After living and working in Paris and Nairobi for several years, she returned to the UK with her husband Jeremy and three sons and took charge of First Edition in 1997. Jeremy is also a Director of FE.
